YAAMNY Education: Photojournalist Scout Tufankjian '05 on "President Obama's Campaign Trail" at PowerHouse Arena

The Educational Programs Committee of the Yale Alumni Association of Metropolitan New York (YAAMNY), in collaboration with the Arts & Entertainment Committee, is pleased to announce. . .

an afternoon presentation at powerHouse Arena at 37 Main Street in DUMBO, Brooklyn on Saturday, May 2nd, 2009 from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. with photojournalist and Yale alumna Scout Tufankjian.

She photographed President Barack Obama's ascendancy to the presidency. Her work has been published in Yes We Can: Barack Obama's History-Making Presidential Campaign.  Yes We Can is the story of Barack Obama’s historic journey from junior Senator from Illinois to President of the United States as documented by the only photographer to cover his entire nearly two-year campaign.

USA Today praised “Tufankjian’s arresting, often moving images. ” Popular Photography wrote: “. . . the quality of Tufankjian’s images alone makes it a worthy photo book. The photojournalist followed Obama’s campaign from its unofficial beginning to its victorious end, capturing striking, candid moments throughout.”

The program will include a talk, a slide show of photographs, a question and answer session, a book signing, and conclude with an informal reception. Chocolates from neighboring Jacques Torres will be on offer to registrants.
